Do you dedicate this much time to revision?
Hello Curriculum Thinkers,
Do your students know how to revise? How do you teach them what effective revision looks like? And how much time do you put aside to do it to make sure they remember the curriculum?
Students don’t come to secondary school with revision strategies. Just like any other skill, we have to train them.
To make their whole school revision strategy effective, the team at MEA Central take this to the next level.
Having done their memory research and agreed which two techniques would best match what the evidence recommends, they thought long and hard about how they would up-skill their students to be revision pros!
🧠 How they trained their students to revise:
weekly 30 min sessions during form time
over 2 terms
focusing on core subjects
explicitly modelling how to use the techniques initially
using MS Teams
increasing autonomy over time until all revision was completely independent
encouraging them to share revision sessions with staff
rewarding students for doing so
building revision practice into the whole school QA calendar
This was just the start. They trained staff and parents too. To find out how…

📺 Whole School Reading: how to have line management conversations in an area you have no experience leading - a role play
Having a really successful reading programme that enables all kids to access the full curriculum offer is crucial but not easy to lead and manage.
Especially if you have never led literacy or reading across the curriculum.
Join us (for part 1 of 2*) to learn how to structure a line management conversation in an area you have no experience of leading.
Observe what this looks like in action in the context of whole school reading through a role play between a Principal and Vice Principal (Teacher Effectiveness).
